Mario (born 1961) was a friend of Antonio. Mario appeared to have brown eyes, but they were actually green, concealed by red contact lenses. He dressed up as the Ghostly Gondolier to steal Antonio's medallion and three others like it, so he could find the lost treasure of Doge Malvolio IV. He didn't want to share it with Antonio, the only other known descendant of the Doge.
